About going back to college at the age of 32?

I have a friend who is 32 years old. He is thinking about going back to college January of 2008. He had previous attended a community college. He has been out of college for two years. He is thinking about transerring to a four year college or university. He need some advice about the following?

1. Should he go back to his previous college that he had attended or transfer to a four year college or university?

2. If he transfers to a four year college or university will he lose all of his credits that he gained?

3. if he had to start all over again at a four year college does he have enough time to start a new career and be able to move up the coporate ladder?

4. Do all four year colleges have off campus housing?

About going back to college at the age of 32?
1. It depends on what he wants to do. Most community colleges don't offer four-year degrees, or if they do they offer them in only a few subjects. He should know this about his school. If he plans to go on for advanced work then it would certainly be better for him to transfer.

2. He shouldn't. Any time you transfer schools you might lose some credits. He needs to talk to the Admissions Office about this--we would have no idea here.

3. I don't really know what this means. 32 is not that old, at any rate--why would he not have time to do whatever he wants to do?

4. No, many of them have on-campus housing. I don't really understand this question either; does he need housing or not? If the question is, does he have to live on-campus if he goes to a regular college, then the answer is no.

He should meet with an advisor from whatever school he last went to. As an alum, they should be willing to help him out with some basic advice.

Tell your friend good luck!
Reply:32 is young. He has plenty of time to improve his career choices. He should contact the colleges he is considering and go with whichever transfers the most credits and is most convenient and cost effective for him.
Reply:Am 36yrs and am just starting a new carreer.

all you need is courage, determination and hard work.

As for the transfer issue, its only the school you intend to go that will give you all the details you need.

Go for it!
Reply:He should get a transcript from the community college and take it to the four-year college. The registrar will inform him of all classes/credits that will be accepted by them.

It's never too late to start a new career if one has the determination and desire.

Many, but not all, four-year colleges require students at the freshman level live on campus.
