College choice?

I'm trying to get advice on a preference between two colleges (I'd prefer a more informed, mature answer rather than "just pick the one with the best parties")

One college (Blackburn college in Carlinville, IL) is in my home town (of about 6,000 people), very small but with an amazing biology program (my major and the professor I'd be under got "professor of the year for Illinois" in 2001) and they'll be getting a new science building my first year too, only downside is that my dad teaches there, and he'd be teaching a lot of my classes and it's kinda in the middle of nowhere with not much to do.

The other college (Emhurst college in Chicago) is the perfect size with the perfect environment, but their biology department isn't quite as good. It's also rights next to Chicago so I could go home easily and they have amazing programs for world travel and stuff I want to do.

- Oh also, Elmhurst would cost me about $8,000 a year and Blackburn is free (perk of being the teacher's kid)

College choice?
I'm not an expert on these type of things, but I will be facing the same situation not too far from now. I would say go for Blackburn; one of the colleges I've looked at is on the other side of the US, but the local one is great, has a new science building, and mine would be little-to-no cost, because my parent works there as well. Try Blackburn to start, and then transfer if you can.

Hope it works out for ya! ; )
Reply:Blackburn! Free is great,, who wants to be saddles with student loans if they don't have to be. Plus if it has the better Bio dept. I'd pick that one.
Reply:I would go to Blackburn. It would be cheaper and you would get a better education because their bio department is better. Try not to take too much advantage of being a professors child because people will treat you differently.

Some people will think that you are spoiled or stuck up, or a daddy's girl.
Reply:honestly, the perk of being a teacher's kid is worth it. plus you can use your father as a study bank when your behind!
