College Admissions? Had one bad year.....?

I am applying to a selective school and I have a few concerns. I went to community college 3 years ago, for one year, and my GPA was 3.3. One year later I went off to college, lived in the dorms did horrible! I guess you could say I failed all but a few classes. Just recently, I have been going to community college again for one year and doing great! I am mature enough to pursue a university and I am going to apply shortly. Because the university I am going to apply to is very selective, I am not going to put on the application the year where I did horrible. Is there anyway this college will find out that I went there? Is there any kind of records or database that says I went to that school? Both the schools are on different coasts. Please don’t tell me that the college may forgive me for that one year or look past it, because this school won’t look past it. I just want to know if there is any kind of tracking system?

If they do find out and they probably can you could be kicked out for not being truthful on your application. Is that the only school you can apply to? is there anyway you can "explain" that bad year? It's better to tell them about it then try to hide it and have them find out later on. Good Luck, but be honest too.
Reply:When you ask that a transcript be sent from any school you have attended be sent to another school, the school from which the transcript is to be sent will note on subsequent transcripts that the papers have been sent to which other schools. The school to which you are applying is going to want to know what become of your application to the other institution.

You better draw up a convincing explaination of the troubled year and present that with all your papers.
Reply:Hi...

My recommendation to you is....

Put all your schooling on your application. Do not lie and do not , not put any stuff on their pertaining to your education. To the transcript of your bad grades, I would attach a note/letter saying what happened and what did you learn from that experience and why you chose to go back to the community college. I have seen this work for grad schools.

Another idea is, is there any way that you can retake those courses that you messed up on at the community college or the college that you did poorly at? That will mean that you are serious about your education in the fact that you are retaking those classes.

I wish you success in the future. Good Luck! Remember everyone makes mistakes. You just need to show that you learned something from them.
Reply:I think there is a type of tracking system. Also, you can get in trouble with the police if you lie on your college application.
