College similar to Hampshire, but in a bigger city?

I've been researching a lot of colleges and I am very interested in the programs at Hampshire College. I love that the classes are mostly Socratic and discussion, that you can develop you own major, that it's in the Northeast, and that it's a liberal college.


However, I would like to find a college similar to this one, but in a bigger city. This is just something that I would like to find, but I definitely won't disregard this college just because of it's location :)

I went to Smith, which is nearby Hampshire - same general area - and I loved it. Hampshire has a very hippie, laid-back feel.





I'm not certain, but I think the 'New School' in NYC is similar. http://www.newschool.edu You might want to check it out.
