College declined my application?

hey!!


i'm 15 yrs old and i applied to college for the "health and social care course" becuase that will help me to become a nurse. i went for my ollege interview and then a few weeks later i got a letter saying that "your application has been unsucessfull and we are unable to offer you a place on this course". i have no idea what to do now as i can't apply for a different college because they are all too far away and i can't get to them. i really want to be a nurse and i'm not ready to give up on my dream yet, but i know that unless i do this course i can't go on to do nursing and i have to start college this time around because if i apply again next year i won't get the EMA money that i need so that i can travel to college and also i won't be able to get a semi-decent job because you generally can't until you go to college. i am getting a flat with some friends this summer as my parents are kiicking me out so i need to get a job that will pay for my 1/2 of the bills and stuff...HELP!

Just wanted to highlight the fact that this person is in the UK, and many UK students go to "college" (not the equivalent to a US university) at around age 16. Those that don't go to college may get an apprenticeship, or leave school and start working, or may do an access course.





And so, to the original poster - is there an access course that, if you take it, will lead you toward nursing?





If nursing is what you really want, then you need to make some hard decisions. I'd actually suggest that you apply to more colleges further away, and move to live nearby once you get into one, either in student housing or in a shared, student flat. If you're going to be paying for a flat anyway, why stay near home? I ask you to think about this because, if the alternative is never becoming a nurse - don't stay near home. Move away, do the course, and when it's done, if you want to, move back to your hometown at that point. But do not trade your career.





If you can not get into "health and social care" at this college, and this college is truly the only college you can go to, and you can not move out of your town, then what *other* courses do they offer, perhaps related to healthcare, that you can look into?
Reply:Why did they decline it? You have to find out the reason before you can fix the problem. Was it your age, your GPA, lack of required course work?





First of all you are young, you have your whole life ahead of you. When I finish my degree I'll be 50 yrs. old.





Secondly, there are a lot of colleges and Jr. Colleges in every state; try again. You are not the first person to have an application rejected by a college. My daughter had several, her ACT scores were not high enough. Now she is attending a wonderful college that she adores...she's going for Nursing.
Reply:Is there not a Law in your country where you are considered a minor until you reach 18, 19, or 21? Your parents would be locked up if they kicked you our at your age in the States. I feel as though you aren't being complete with your story.
Reply:At 15 years old? You have graduated from high school? There is more to the story than we know, so it's hard to know what to tell you.
