I'm at a point in my life where I can choose where I want to go with my education. Yes, by that I mean college.
I have a choice between university and a community college.
The community college is a 24 minute drive from my house.
The University is a 42 minute drive from my house.
So, I liked the community college because I wouldn't have to make a commute to school everyday.
Oh, and no, I don't want to live on campus at university, either.
The thought of sharing a dorm room is very unappealing towards me.
On that subject, can anybody tell what it's like exactly to dorm with somebody?
But, then with community college I feel like I'll be stuck right back in high school again. That, and not all of my credits will transfer to the university once I decide to go after the two years at the CC.
Advice?
What should I do?
Did you like community college?
Was your commute worth it?
etc etc etc.
Community College or University?
If you can get into a University, go for it.
But keep in mind, if you are wanting to get Aid and things like that, you need to PASS your classes...
so maybe if you've been out of school for a while.. you should try at a community college and get refreshed, then go to a university when you're ready.
there is nothing wrong with starting out at a CC
Reply:Someday when you can't find a good job and you're regretting not getting an education, and you think back on the idea that you gave up on your education because you didn't want to share a room with someone, you'll think, 'hey, that was pretty stupid'. Pretty much every college student ever (that's millions of students) have had a roommate and survived the experience, most with a few good memories. If you really don't get along, they'll switch you or you can switch yourself.
Go to the university if you can get in. Why are you only considering the one 45 min away? There are plenty of others - maybe get a little further away from home?
Reply:I think you should go the University. However, you can also consider going to the community college and then transferring your credits to university. For information about Community college you can visit: www.communitycollegereview.com
Reply:Talk to the councellor and work up a plan in the CC for the classes you will take. If you will finish it off at U, don't bother getting a CC degree, just take the classes that will transfer.
