College is it important?

I personally will not have a college fund for my kids i think it is a waist of money i believe if they wanna goto college they will work hard for scholarships and work for it. or they should look into the career they are choosing and maybe college wont even need to be a option. so to you is college important?

College is it important?
It is proven that those with college educations will earn many times more than those with only a high school diploma. I think college is very important, especially because these days too many people are graduating from high school who can not even write a coherent sentence. I do not think parents have an obligation to pay for their children's college education. You are correct that there are many different ways someone can get a college education without parents' help. I also think that people appreciate the education (and are more serious about their school work) when they have to pay the tuition bill themselves. It's a privilege when parents pay the full tuition, but in some cases its not appreciated.

When I was in High School, I didn't give a crap about college, now more than ten years later I am paying for it........career wise, and financially because I will be paying on my student loans for the rest of my life!!!!! There will come a day where it will be virtually impossible to get a decent job making decent money without a college education.
Reply:At this time, and most likely in the future, college is VERY important for getting a good job. If you don't have the means to help save for their college education, that is alright. But please reconsider the value of education. Your children deserve to be encouraged to reach their potential. I am 37 years old and have recently returned to school to finish my degree. I really wish my mother had been more involved and encouraged me to do well in college and finish my education. It is much harder as an adult with other responsibilities in life.
