I went to a small, private college with a great academic reputation my freshman year. After my second semester, I was dismissed for having a low gpa. I know what I did wrong, and it wasn't too surprising considering the amount of effort I put into my classwork.
I just missed the minimum, and I was not prepared for the dismissal, so I spent last fall and will be spending this spring at a community college. I have the option of returning to the college I was dismissed from for next fall.
I've been accepted to other schools, but I'm not sure what to do. I loved the college I went to. I'm a very good student, and I could succeed there. - I was just really really lazy my freshman year.
So, as I'm being accepted into new and different schools, I'm having difficulties deciding. My old college has absolutely everything I am looking for, whereas these newer ones need a bit of compromising. Should I return to my old college, or go somewhere else, starting over?
Dismissed from college.. which option is better?
Return to your old college but make sure you've learned something from the past ! Don't slip back into your old ways. People who succeed are people who work hard to achieve. The choices you make now will affect the rest of your life. Take the past events as a wake up call and now make the most of your opportunities.
Reply:Sounds like you want to go back to your old school. I see no downsides to that.
Good for you for not getting off-track, getting your act together and jumping back in. A lot of people give up in that situation.
Reply:why would you not go back to a place that has everything you need, a place you love, and a place you originally chose to go???? This, to me is a no brainer. Why risk going to a new place that my not satisfy all your wants and needs when you can go somewhere that you're sure will fit you.
good luck
Reply:Return to your old school because you have credits from that school... If you attend a new school you may or may not be guaranteed all of your credits and will have to make up one year or another
Reply:If you've finished your basics then go for it but if you haven't I'd stay at community college it's way cheaper man.
