What would look great on college applications. I want to be able to get into as many colleges as possible, and then choose.
What's the hardest college to get into, how would I get into it, and what should I do to get my college application to look as good as possible. Thanks! :)
Please, as much info as possible. :)
College Applications....?
hardest colleges to get into: harvard, yale, princeton, stanford. Next come Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, Williams, Swarthmore, UPenn, Caltech, Georgetown, Duke, Rice.
Also the honor colleges in many universities are hard to get into. Penn State's Schreyers Honor College for example has very low admit rate.
those are just a few....the absolute hardest are the first four i listed. how do you get in? top 1% in class, high 700s SATs and SAT II, a lot of extracurrics (community service, national competition winners, class officer, club leaders, etc etc.). Essays and teacher/counselor recommendations are also important.
As you can see, it takes a LOT to get into the top colleges. You don't need everything i mentioned. Those are just examples. What I'm trying to say is you have to show you're intelligent, passionate, and a leader. Of course a bit of luck helps too. Also, legacy and faculty parents help (if your parents went to that school or better yet, if your parents work for that school.)
Remember to apply to around 6-12 colleges, with different acceptance rates. You don't want to only apply to top schools. Make sure to include a few safeties.
Write killer essays! they can make or break any acceptance letter.
i have the same aspirations as you this fall...good luck!
Reply:good tip for applying to harder colleges is applying as a minority. If you have another passport, use it. The only problem then is paying out of state.
Study for your sats, take the practice tests they help.
Do extracurricular Anything.
Volunteer, Music, Sports, etc.
Good grades.
Good essay, be very unique.
And its not always about the hardest college to get into. Remember that different majors are better at different universities. A public university might be better ranked for a particular major than an Ivy League.
Think about what major you want to go into, and RESEARCH and STUDY. Good luck!
Reply:Extra Curricular activities. Volunteer activities. College recruiters love it. Of course a high GPA is always good, but recruiters love to see in what other ways you apply your talents. Also, try to get a part time job in something related to your anticipated field of study.
I would think the hardest colleges to get into are the most well known colleges and Ivy League.
I wish you the best of luck!
