I am not very educated in the area of college tuition costs and have been trying to do some research, but that has only led to confusion. I am debating whether or not to experience living in a college dorm. Even though I admire the independence one gets, the cons, such as hygiene and noise level, outweigh the pros. The cost of room and board also proves itself to be ridiculously high. I was wondering if I take the money that would go to college room and board and try living with a room-mate in an apartment. Please leave your suggestion for me and if you know the cost, please let me know. This would help a bunch because I have plenty of time to prepare myself for any situation, whether it is college dorm, room-mate in an apartment, or staying at home and commuting to college. Your help would be greatly appreciated!!
College Dorms vs. Apartment?
Well, we can't tell you the exact cost of everything, because we don't know the cost of room and board, nor do we know the cost of the apartment. HOWEVER: Usually living in a dorm will be cheaper. Living in a dorm will give you housing and a meal plan. Living in an apartment you will have to worry about paying rent every month, buying furniture, and buying food. Also, you might have to commute depending on how far the apartment is.
And remember, there's NOTHING like living in a dorm. IT defines the whole college experience. Don't rule it out just for "hygiene and noise level". Don't be such a square! :-)
Reply:I know that living off campus is considered cheaper but when you live on campus you tend to get more financial aid.
