College question again?
Junior (or community) colleges have less rigorous admissions policies than 4 year institutions; they are also generally much less expensive. Yes, you can complete the General Education requirements of most universities at a JC, but you should work closely with an academic advisor to make sure that the classes you take are indeed transferable to the university you wish to attend.

For most students who are serious about attending university, I would recommend beginning freshman year at the university rather than at a community college. In California at least, the percentage of students who successfully transfer to the university from community college is quite low...something like 20%. If finances are a concern, then try to apply for financial aid. Visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

It seems as though English may not be your first language, so I would also strongly recommend that you take English classes designed for bilingual/multilingual students at whatever school you attend. Students often don't like the "ESL" label, but these classes in college are very, very different than in high school, and your academic English skills need to be strong for university reading and writing. Many college "ESL" students were born in the U.S. but just never received proper or enough instruction in the English language before they were moved into mainstream English classes.

As for fraternities, it really depends on you and on the fraternity you choose. They can be great for support and networking; however, they can also be very time-consuming. I would recommend that you wait until your sophomore before pledging for one.
Reply:I would recommend going straight to a 4 year school. For nursing, it would take you 4 years regardless (because of all the prereqs. plus waiting lists and such at a community college.) and optometry isn't offered at a 2 year school. I think that is at least a master's degree.
Reply:At most 2 year colleges in the US you can get an Associates Degree in Nursing which will let you take the RN licensing exam. You can then transfer to a 4 year school to get a BSN. Stay away from the frats!
