College Admission, High School Transcript?

I am applying to a pretty selective school as a transfer student. I will be transfering from a community college. I didn't do very well in high school for a number of reasons, but I've done extremelly well in college so far. I recieved my GED and got great scores on that too, but the college I am applying to wants my high school and college transcripts.

Do I still need to include a high school transcript if I got my GED? If I do need to submit a high school transcript, will my amazing college preformance and GED scores outweigh the bad high school record?

College Admission, High School Transcript?
If the school requires a high school transcript, you must send it. Your application/admission process will not be complete without it. A GED does not replace a transcript as a HS Diploma would not replace a transcript. You might need to send your GED and the transcript together.

Many schools require that you send both high school and college information (if you're a transfer student). This isn't to discredit you simply because you were doing poorly in one and not great in both. For instance, if you did well in high school and not so great in college, your high school transcript would help you out. If you did great in college and not so great in high school, that's even better, it shows your potential and improvement. Many schools ask for HS transcripts in order to give someone a broader chance of being applicable for admission. When applying for continued-education myself after undergrad I often still have to send my HS transcripts. It's a pain because I have to pay $10 to my HS each time I do it.
Reply:I think you need to give them the GED scores in your case. And yes you have a good chance of getting into the college even though you did bad in highschool. Thats why the have the community college thing, alot of teens screw around in highschool, I should know I was one of them. Just call the college that your transfering to and let them know that you have a GED and ask if they need the scores for that instead of your high school transcripts. Good luck!
Reply:Yes, you will need to send both if they have requested it. They will focus on how you have done in college vs. high school. Talk directly with an admissions counselor at the school you are applying. They may also require ACT/SAT test scores (universities do, community colleges do not). Hopefully you have taken core required courses (math, bio, etc.) as that will be a focus. (psych prof)
Reply:I gotta be honest with you, and say that it really varies for each school. Also keep in mind that colleges often consider exceptional cases, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are willing to bend their rules for an outstanding student. Speak to them directly, there's really no better way to do it. Don't rely on any answer you may receive here; you really wouldn't know the answer to your question unless you speak to them directly.
