I feel so bad for college students these days and how ignorant most of them are. Most think that employers will KISS THEIR FEET and welcome them with opened arms into the business.
I graduated from two CUNY colleges in NYC and have been struggling with TWO college degrees. I try very hard to help students see THE LIGHT, THE TRUTH of life after college.
Students are nothing more than MONEY to a school but colleges DARE NOT say this truth for fear of loosing students.
I feel that most colleges lie to get students with no guarantee of future success.
Your view?
Lying to College Students?
Agreed.
There's far too much emphasis nowadays on forcing people into higher education.
How hard is it to see that everyone nowadays is walking around with degrees, and none of them are special? But they'll still quite happily waddle on with their "insta-job" dreams...
Reply:I was lied to too!
I was told to always Be Myself (what if i'm not nice?), always Follow My Dream (and never listen to anyone who says otherwise, because people such ppl are 'negative'), that Honesty Is the Best Policy ("hey, quit eating that, it's making you fat!" sure, that works!) and that a woman can do anything a man can do (maybe she can, but no one will give her the chance when there are men available! not now, when girls play with pricesses and boys play with tools)
So now i copy-paste code for a living, i say what my bosses and any men in my life wnat to hear to keep them from getting rid of me, and wish i knew how to apply foundation to my skin properly -- i have to go without.
School is just a sifting mechanism, to sift the upper classes from the lower classes. This is not such a bad thing, since good ppl can go up and the son of the rich guy who parties all day will fail. But yeah, there is no "education", there is only an endurance race to see who will get more money and who will flip the burgers.
