A few days ago I asked why college kid act the way they do. Let me make my self clear on this. I live in a college town, I do not like it here. I am about to buy a house. Now I did not mean all college kids, there are some nice kids that don't act like a fool. But there are some of you that act totally stupid, rude, ignorant. I lived in these apartments, and the manager told me about these kids how they set fire to a couch in the apartment. He also told me how most college kids destroy their apartment. When I lived there, I don't know how many times I called the cops because of the noise, loud parts. I work, I'm a Nurse Practicer, I work long hours, and I do not need to hear all this noise when I'm trying to sleep. But when most college kid get drunk they do not know how to handle there booze, most like to pick fights start trouble. Dont get me wrong I was in Med School once, but I did not act like some of these kid do.I used to get drunk I still do, but I dont start fight, or trouble
College Kids?
In my opinion, it's the rich kids that end up doing the MOST "crap"
They have mommy and daddy take care of all their expenses, that have NO reason to worry about bills, and they have no concept of money, or that their actions have consequencies....
Where I"m from, kids who have to WORK their way through college, we know the value of a dollar, and how hard it is to have "nice" things, when all you can afford is used, or 2nd rate.
So.... You just live in a crappy neighborhood... NOT all college students can be stereotyped as loud, and destructive.
Reply:I'm in college and I agree with you 100%. I see these people all the time and I can't figure it out either. There's nothing wrong with partying or enjoying yourself, but most people just don't know how to handle themselves at all. I think part of it is an immaturity thing, especially if people are used to being watched by their parents all the time and suddenly they have freedom. Hope your situation improves. Good luck.
Reply:probably because they realize that they're about to get into the real world. honestly, college is like living at a resort; you're totally independent, and your parents are paying your bills. it's your last hurrah before you have to settle down and start thinking about saving money, buying a home, working on your career, etc etc etc. you get to this point where you realize that you have four years with grown-up privileges before you actually have to start acting like a grown-up and assume all this responsibility. soo, it's basically time to party. granted, some people take it to the extreme way more than others, but still. it's kinda the best time to just lead an inhibition-free life. i never understood why residents actually bought property or rented in college towns knowing that college students would be their neighbors. not to be mean, but what else did you expect?
Reply:I totally agree with what you are saying, I'm a Captain. I had a few flights that had a group of college kids on board. Let me tell you something, I do not like when I have to leave the the flight deck because of someones behavior. It almost seems that where there are a group of those kids on board, I have to come out of the cockpit and have a talk with these kids. I mean, come on there in there early 20s, and I have to talk them like they are little kids. I have a group of them, my passengers complained to the airline company. A lot of them just don't know how to act. 2

Reply:The real question is, are you referring to college kids or people in general? Just as some college kids are good people that study hard, while others may be disrespectful, there are middle aged people who are quite irresponsible and some that are very responsible. What about middle aged business men that drink and drive and kill young students? It's really just different types of irresponsibility. Obnoxious college kids may light couches on fire to blow off steam; older men and women may act irresponsibly for the same reasons: to escape.
