Women's college insight?
I would have to disagree with eri -- in fact, Meredith College is the largest women's college in the Southeast and graduates include the first lady of New York (Silda Wall Spitzer) and a Tony award winner (Beth Leavel) just to name two.
I'm a bit biased because I am a Meredith alum (Class of 2004) -- I came from up north so I was new in Raleigh and I had a grand time. Because it's a larger women's college, there's a lot to do on campus, as well as in Raleigh (we're two blocks from NC State, so there are plenty of boys around). The English department at Meredith is strong and well-known, and they're starting an actual degree program in Creative Writing next year. Being in a city like Raleigh offers a lot of internship opportunities as well.
The best thing to do is call or email the Admissions Department and ask any questions -- they can give you more specific information about the program. And I would definitely suggest visiting any campus you're interested in, because that gives you a much better idea than any suggestions we could give.
Reply:I don't know about those colleges in specific, but if you're looking for a good women's college, I would recommend Smith, Mt. Holyoke, or Agnes Scott. The ones you listed have very little name recognition outside of Carolinas.
