We all know that College Football and College Basketball have become awesome sports to watch but when do you think College Baseball will become as big as them
Would you like to see the NCAA make College Baseball part of them? If so, Why?
I know I do, plus it gives college players much more chances of going pro
College Sports?
It really all starts with the MLB. The MLB has a really poor kind of "drafting system" so that takes away from the experience of college baseball. Also, not every college has a baseball team. Several large programs don't have them because colleges must have the same number of men's and women's sports and a lot of times baseball offsets this ratio. I don't see baseball becoming march madness or bowl season because of the poor "drafting" in the MLB and the lack of college teams. It seems like the Little League World Series gets more attention then college baseball does.
Reply:I agree with you, I would love to see College Baseball get big, to the level of NCAAB/NCAAF but it wont happen. You seldomly run into anybody that likes college baseball let alone follows the MLB draft.
I would like to think that if college baseball got big, it would give them a better chance at going pro but even then it wont happen. There is so much talent out there and many teams just draft to fill their farm system and hopefully, they can develop these players to what they need. You seldomly see players go straight from college to the Majors. That tier is reserved for the best of the best, and only a handful get to play in it compared to all the different types of minors such as Rookie, A, High A, AA, AAA, etc.
But I see where you are coming from and would love to see baseball at the collegiate level explode. It would be great for these young and up and commers to get exposure and know the pressure when all eyes are watching.
Reply:I would love to see college baseball make it big in the TV world but it will never happen! Even though the college world series is a hug deal for the media! The reason; Baseball doesn't generate enough revenue for the media to broadcast! Look at the structure of baseball stadiums compared to football stadiums! in college baseball stadiums are built to seat like one or two thousand fans, as for football they are built to seat 60-90 thousand fans!
Reply:It may never be because less people are interested in baseball because of the MLB's steriod mess, which lowers the number of younger fans. I would've enjoyed to see Brian Bixler play in college (he's a HS classmate of mine), but ESPN only shows the College "World Series" and I don't think Eastern Michigan ever made it far enough with him there.
Reply:I don't think NCAA Baseball will ever really become a big deal. The reason it hasn't (and won't) is because it has Minor League Baseball to compete with. Many top players are drafted by the MLB organizations and end up going straight to the Minors out of HS.
Reply:Sorry, I don't have an answer for this, but you can find great sports memorabilia at the site listed below. FYI for the next time that you might be looking!
Reply:There are already 162 MLb games for every team to keep track of. i don't think anybody wants to watch more baseball like college baaseball.
Reply:i know about the only time you see real coverage of Baseball %26amp; Softball is when they are playing the Championship Tournoment
Reply:no
too many players go straight to the MLB draft from high school and waste thier career in the minor leagues
it will never be that popular
